Back pain, allergies & gynecological problems

After 12 years and over $12K spent in modern medicine, I found acupuncture and have been pain free for over 8 years. I was skeptical at first, but I was frustrated from lack of a cure or simply relief and MANY dollars spent, so I tried it. Now, I avoid costly doctor visits by having preventative acupuncture treatments monthly. My ability to do the things I enjoy is no longer limited by injuries, allergies & gynecological issues. I can hike, I can bike, I can do martial arts and many other activites with the freedom I once had.

Migraines

I began having headaches when I was twelve. Western doctors still don't really have a direct answer for what causes it. When I became older the pain would escalate until I would vomit. At fourteen, I was put on midrin, a vaso-dialator.

When I went to see Mei Lie Benink in May, 1997, I was getting headaches four or five times a week. I was skeptical at first. But, even within the first month, the frequency of my headaches declined. I didn't expect my headaches to go away all together. They weren't nearly as bad as they had been in the past.
Now I go just once a month. Aucpuncture has helped me reduce the frequency of my headaches to 1 or 2 a month, with less intensity.

I've gotten more results from acupuncture than I ever expected. I'm impressed by the fact that I went in skeptical and came out a believer. Acupuncture is not just treating the symptoms, it's treating the illness itself.

Menopausal Symptoms

Due to cervical cancer I had a hysterectomy when I was 35 years old. I was really upset that my western doctors didn't give me any alternative options. I didn't begin to see Mei Lie Benink until I was 43, and I got results really quickly. I was depressed, couldn’t sleep, I had hot flashes and all the things that go along with menopause. In my case these symptoms were extreme.

My doctor told me that I shouldn't be having those problems because I still had my ovaries, and it was all in my head. So, I went to a female physician and she said the same thing. From there I went to a kinesiologist/chiropractor. I stuck with him for 8 or 9 months spending $250-300 per month. Eventually I wound up in Mei Lie Benink's office. When I went in, Mei Lie must have talked to me for 45 minutes. I couldn't believe how attentively she listened. No raised eyebrows or judgments.

When I found out I had to lay still for twenty minutes, with needles in my body I was a little bit nervous. It wasn't at all what I expected. I actually went to sleep during the treatment and awoke feeling really refreshed.

With Mei Lie's help I'm back to being a healthy person again. I only need a physician for annual check ups. Mei Lie is so caring, so kind and knowledgeable; you just don't find that every day. She loves what she is doing and she is clearly concerned about helping her patients.
